On Monday night the 7th grade Lady Mavericks volleyball team traveled to Cresent City to play a 7A Sectional game. MVK defeated their host Cresent City in two hard fought games 26-24 and 25-23. Lexi Wilkinson led all MVK servers with nine service points. The Lady Mavericks will now take their 23-0 record downstate to Auburn Junior High School in Divernon on Saturday March 13th to compete in the Illinois Elementary School Association 7th Grade Class 1A State Volleyball Tournament. MVK is scheduled to play Oakland Lake Crest at 2:15 pm.

6th Grade Wins Trophy to End Their Season

The 6th grade Lady Mavericks volleyball team traveled to Pontiac St. Mary’s this past weekend to participate in a tournament. On Friday night, they lost their first match to a very good team from Fieldcrest. In their second match of the evening, MVK defeated the Epiphany 6th grade team in tow games 25-23 and 25-13. On Saturday, the girls won their first match defeating St. Anthony’s in two games 25-20 and 25-22 to move to the championship game on the consolation side of the tournament brackets. The Lady Mavericks then won their first game 25-13 over the El Paso Purple team. El Paso won the second game of the match 18-25. In the third game, MVK rallied to win 15-9 to capture the championship title. Congratulations to the 6th grade team on a fine season of volleyball.

7th Grade Wins Regional

On Thursday evening, the 7th grade MVK Lady Mavericks volleyball team defeated Thornton Wolcott in the IESA Regional 1A championship match. MVK won the first game 25-5 and then rolled on to win the second game 25-18. Madison Wyss had a terrific night for the Lady Mavericks with her team leading 12 service points and 10 assists. Lexi Wilkinson was close behind with 11 service points and three kills. The 7th grade team now has a record of 22-0. They will travel to Cresent City on Monday March 8th to Play Cresent City at 6:00pm.
